The Grande Surface – Galerie Festive, an innovative temporary art gallery and party venue in the heart of the capital, is open until December 2019. Read on as the Hotel Daunou Opera tells you more…
How an old supermarket became a cutting-edge art gallery
Located at 24 Boulevard des Italiens, close to the Opera, the Grande Surface – Galerie Festive boasts an intriguing history. It was originally a supermarket! How was a former Monoprix transformed into an art gallery; a new festive and creative space capable of hosting up to 900 people? The hard work was provided by the team of Passage Enchanté, a group with a mission to reinvent spaces of more than 1000 m² and bring them back to life. They caught our attention and that of all Paris last year with their creation of the city’s largest rooftop garden, the Jardin Suspendu.
When art meets the party
The Grande Surface – Galerie Festive is a truly vibrant place in the heart of Paris; a 1,500 m2, three-level space where art and party fun meet. A fusion project to stimulate all the senses and where anything is possible. An exhibition space where you can also drink, eat, listen to music and dance. A venue that invites you on an artistic adventure via a series of regularly renewed works by the 9th Concept collective and artists such as Jules Hidrot, The Blind, and Romain Froquet, to name just a few. Cultural discoveries mingle with several mobile bars, and a food court with a restaurant offering cuisine concocted by Fabien Gomez. There’s a programme of music events from 19:00, a host of entertainment and many surprises … Everything you need to dance and party through the night!
